Code 128 font for Crystal

Postby asgt1974 » Mon Feb 22, 2010 4:20 pm

Hi, About six months ago we purchased your Code 128 barcode font and the dll to enable its use in Crystal. We are having problems running the Crystal report from our application. On some installations – it seems to be when the application is run via remote desktop as standard Window’s client all seem to be okay – the application is crashing out when it runs the report. We are certain that this is happening because of either the font or the dll for the barcode calculation as when we take this out we don’t have any issues with the report. The only error that we can find is in the event viewer where we get the following:-

Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 10/02/2010

We have tried everything that we can think of to fix the issue – so made double certain that the remote desktop server has been fully rebooted, installed the font and dll from your package, and tried to install them manually. We are certain that when installing the font we have had full administrator rights for the server – and it crashes the report whether we have admin rights or not when we run it. We have the issue at five separate installations – all of them remote desktop Window’s servers (I think most are on Windows server 2003 service pack 2).

Have you got any ideas how we can get around this issue? I should point out that we are running the Crystal Report from within a Progress (prowin32.exe – hence the mention of prowin32.exe in the event viewer output) session with the Crystal Report as an Activex object embedded in the Progress code. This works absolutely fine with the font in the report on my system and on the majority of installations – just not on these 5 or 6 remote desktop servers. And when I remove the font and reference to the dll from the Crystal report then the report works on these servers so it is 100% definitely an issue with the font/dll.

Thanks, Andrew.

Andrew,

Can you let me know what system your remoting into and from? I have tested the UFL, installed on Windows 2008R2, remoting in with Remote Desktop from both Windows XP and Vista without and difficulty (the UFL displays the barcode properly and is encoding it properly.)

Any additional information would be helpful.

Hi, Sorry been on holiday for a couple of weeks.

The remote desktop server is Windows server 2003 service pack 2. In I think all cases they are getting onto the rdp server from a Windows xp machine.

Thanks, Andrew.
